To engage every man in America with a credible offer of Christ and with resources to grow.

Serving church leaders who are reaching men.

If you take virtually every problem in America today, at the root of it you will find the failure of a man (e.g. 93% of prisoners are male and 85% of these come from fatherless homes). Today there are approximately 98,000,000 men in America, 63,000,000 of which don't know Christ. Only 8,000,000 of these are active in discipleship. This would be the equivalent of 12 guys playing on a football team and only 1 of them knowing how to play football.

Now, no man fails on purpose – most wake up in the morning wanting to succeed.

Our desire at Man in the Mirror is to come along side pastors and men’s ministry leaders who are equipping men for success.

28 - Let's Stop Beating Up On Men E-mail

Recently I heard a men's message that I would sub-title: "The 327 Things You Need To Do To Be A Good Christian." While I'm exaggerating, the underlying theme frightens me.

Lately I have heard several speakers and communicators with good hearts tell men in their messages about the many things they "ought" to be doing. (I must confess I've done some of this myself). For example, you "ought"…

to have a weekly date night with your wife.
to carve out more time for your kids.
to cancel your Sports Illustrated subscription because of the swimsuit edition.
to spend a certain minimum amount of time with God every day.
to be in an accountability group.
to ask your pastor what more you can do to serve, and so on.
Each of these has the "ring" of a good idea. They are "religiously correct", they don't violate any biblical principles. Indeed, they may even be (for you) a good application of a biblical principle. Yet, they also illustrate an alarming trend in men's ministry that needs to be nipped in the bud.
