38. Lordship We've all heard a man say something like, "I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was seventeen years old, but I didn't make Him Lord until I was thirty-two." Just saying something is so doesn't make it so! And nothing could be further from the truth. As Lord, Jesus is the creator and sustainer of all men (even those who spurn His name) and, as Savior, the redeemer of those who believe. We belong to Jesus. He is our "owner." He is our "benefactor." In fact, He is our Lord whether He is our Savior or not. Teach men that our greatest source of strength and joy is to each day come humbly to the foot of the cross and there make a full, total, complete surrender of our lives to the lordship of Jesus. There is no greater joy, privilege, or responsibility than to lead men into the kind of relationship with Jesus that Jesus wants. Peter declared, "Let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus...both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36)". Consider these Bible verses from the apostle Paul: "For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living." and "there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live" (Romans 14:9; 1 Corinthians 8:6).
